Life, Larry, And The Pursuit Of Unhappiness “Buzz”

OK, I am pretty sure a particular sketch was put in here to recreate the fun of a certain  clashing that happens on Curb You Enthusiasm fairly often.

Hey, Larry is reprising his role from an earlier episode of the cranky barrel-maker who didn’t get invited to the Boston Tea Party.  Here, he hears Kyle Mooney’s Paul Revere warn that the British are coming and bickers with his wife, Ilsa Fisher, over what they should take when they evacuate, his butter-churning skills, her pigeon-cooking skills, and then when things are at a fever pitch, it turns out Revere took a wrong turn and the British are going somewhere else.

In the final sketch, Larry’s Buzz Aldrin gets into a fight on the moon with Paul Rudd’s Neil Armstrong over who gets to plant the flag and get off the shuttle first.  Neil wins, which makes sense since Rudd is decades younger than  Larry David.

At the Alamo, Keegan-Michael Key’s Davy Crockett makes Larry suspicious about why Crockett never takes off his coon-skin cap.  Sure, Crockett killed himself a bear when he was only three, but is he bald?  He is!  The hat is knocked off, and the fact that he’s bald encourages Oscar Nunez’s Santa-Ana to start the final attack, finally convinced he can win the day.

Larry. it should be noted, did not knock the hat off Crockett’s head.

But then there’s Susan B. Anthony’s dinner party.  And Anthony is played by Susie Essman.

Is the whole thing there for Larry to bother Anthony enough for her to loudly tell him to get out in much the same way Curb‘s Susie Greene would?  With back-up from her sister, whom Larry is courting, played by Jane Krakowski?  Oh, the scene plays exactly the way it always does on Curb, to the point where Essman is not as recognizable as she usually is when the scene begins until Anthony finally loses her temper and starts yelling.

Besides, Larry’s character keeps calling her, to her displeasure, “Susie.”  It was about as deliberate as the show is going to get.
