I’m a big fan of old Warner Brothers cartoons.
Yesterday, Warner Brothers made an announcement that pleases me.
Yes, they’re making more cartoons. And not only that, but they are making these new cartoons animator-based, meaning the individual writers and directors of these cartoons–not the studio–will have the ultimate say in how these cartoons turn out. That means the shorts won’t be dependent on, say, the studio house style.
The idea is to make up 1,000 minutes of animation to start featuring the likes of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Porky Pig. I’m a little fuzzy on where exactly they’ll be airing, and I guess the days of airing them before a movie in the theater is over, but the new cartoons, described in some places as the “first season,” will be available sometime in 2019.
Now, if only we could find out which Looney Tunes character would survive a fight to the death.
