Paradise “Mayday”

Season two opened with new character Annie Clay who managed to survive the disaster in Graceland, found love, watched that love head off without him, and then find Xavier next to a crashed plane.

So, how did he get there?

Short answer: a bunch of kids.

Long answer:  a bunch of kids who first helped him recover when his plane went down in a hailstorm and then swiped all his stuff after he defended them from a  jerk.  That comes about mostly because, apparently, Arkansas turned really bad after the apocalypse.  Other states are more or less fine, but stay out of Arkansas.

Actually, most of this episode shows flashbacks to how Xavier, world’s world patient, met Teri when they were in the same hospital room for different surgeries.  Xavier blew his knee out during his Secret Service training.  Teri has chronic back pain.  And then two eventually hit it off, but who wouldn’t be charmed by Sterling K Brown’s pouring on the charisma?  You know Teri is hooked when she says she won’t be falling for just any hot guy, indicated that, yes, she thinks he’s hot.  Heck, I would date Xavier if he hung around my hospital bed and asked about my flash cards.

Then, of course, he stays with her when she temporarily lost her eyesight, not even knowing if it was temporary.  That is…sweet.  Yes, it’s sweet.  Certainly sweeter than killing the lone guy who found the kids in the woods.

I don’t care if Xavier blew his knee out again, he still is a well-fed Secret Service agent who should be able to handle one lone weirdo in the middle of the woods even if said weirdo is armed.  I would pick Sterling K Brown to wup a weirdo’s ass in those circumstances.

Now, maybe he shouldn’t have killed the guy in front of those kids, but he was a bad dude, so maybe that’s why the kids left an apology note behind when they robbed him of almost all his stuff, leading to Xavier’s stumbling around in the dark and eventually collapsing.  That would be where Annie found him and took him back to Graceland where she, no doubt accurately, predicts he would never believe her if she told him where they were.  Now, Annie is sweet and friendly.  Will she help Xavier go to Atlanta to find Teri?

Um, no.  He mentioned the Colorado bunker and decided to follow Link there.

Maybe stay out of Arkansas this time.
