Larry has problems for this episode, and Wanda seems to be nearby whenever he seems to be doing something racist.
He’s not being racist. Well, not intentionally.
See, Larry keeps putting his foot in his mouth over race. You know, except when he’s trying to apologize to David Schwimmer’s father, then he starts swearing when someone rear-ends his car and there’s nothing racist about it.
Larry mistakes a black man for a valet? Honest mistake, but the man and Wanda don’t see it that way.
Same when he locks his car in a parking lot while a different black man is walking by.
Cheryl sends him to buy a doll for a baby shower, finds out he shouldn’t say “mulatto,” and then repeats the world multiple times in front of biracial people because he doesn’t learn. Why anyone would send Larry to buy a doll, I don’t pretend to know.
Richard Lewis wonders if black men are better endowed with white men. Larry eventually finds out, but then he nearly gets beaten up by NBA star Muggsy Bogues for checking the man’s junk in a men’s room. Apparently, the shortest man in the NBA is very well-endowed. Fortunately, Larry had a heart monitor on for medical reasons, an that allowed him to fake heart attacks to keep himself from being beaten up twice in the same episode.
And Larry’s talk of how Wanda wants her script back actually temporarily convinces a surrogate mother to keep the baby. Maybe he shouldn’t have gotten her a gift at that baby shower too, even if it was a nice gesture from the man.
Basically, Larry should probably keep his mouth shut. He’d be happier in the end.
