Curb Your Enthusiasm “The Weatherman”

Season Four, Episode Four

The late Bob Einstein, AKA Super Dave Osborn, makes his first appearance here as Larry’s friend Marty Funkhouser.

He doesn’t actually do much here.

I mean, he really doesn’t do much here.  He’s the cousin of Larry’s dentist, and Marty’s dad is getting a testimonial, one that gets a shout-out on the local news by the weatherman Larry clashes with in this episode.  Is that a thing?  That a testimonial gets a shout-out on the local news?  Is Marty’s dad that big a deal?  Was it open to the public?  Can I get one of these things?

Actually, this was one of those episodes where a lot of what happens isn’t really Larry’s fault.  He gets blamed for a lot of things.  Many times, it is his fault.  Plus, he has some odd quirks like sitting down to pee.  That leads to a back injury caused by going to sit down when Cheryl left a seat up after she got sick off food poisoning at Jeff and Susie’s dinner party.

That’s kind of low-key funny there, that a man was injured because a woman left the toilet seat up.

So, as Larry clashes with a weatherman, as he goes golfing in the rain due to clashes with said weatherman, and how he can’t stand up due to the back injury, and so forth.

But his dentist is sharing his tooth problems.

And he sent a photo of Larry’s bad tooth to him, something Cheryl opened in the car going to the Greenes’ party because…why?

Those sorts of things aren’t Larry’s fault.

It is likewise not Larry’s fault that Jeff and Susie’s young daughter swiped one of the Larry’s shoes when he refused to take them off, and then hid it.  Likewise, she went through Larry’s pockets and freaked out when she found the tooth picture.  Susie, as is her wont, blamed Larry for the photo despite the fact he didn’t take it, didn’t intend to take it with him, and most notably, did not show it to the little girl who went through his pockets.  How about talking to that kid about not swiping shoes or going through people’s jackets?

I mean, that sounds much worse.

Larry, he really should have brought that up.  Jeff would have apologized for that.

Well, maybe when Susie wasn’t around.

It really stinks being Larry sometimes.
