What’s this? A Curb Your Enthusiasm Christmas episode? With a guest appearance by David Kroechner? I didn’t see that coming, like, ever.
It’s Christmas time, and that means Larry has to deal with his in-laws’s visit and all the Christian stuff they bring with them, and he’s still trying to cough up that pubic hair he accidentally swallowed. His doctor could remove it, but it would be painful. Better to let it just pass out naturally. Larry spends the episode gagging off-and-on, telling some people it’s a pubic hair and others that it’s a grape stem. By “others,” I mean Cheryl’s parents, two people bringing a whole lot more Christmas into Larry’s house than he’s particularly comfortable with.
Why do Cheryl’s family keep doing that?
As it is, much of what happens here isn’t Larry’s fault. He isn’t trying to get the housekeeper I’ve never seen before to quit, but Jeff needs Larry to tell a lie because he was talking to a platonic woman friend while Susie was out of town, and that led to a big phone bill. Larry does lie for Jeff, but Cheryl sees through it and tells Susie, and a side effect is the housekeeper I’ve never seen before quits. Oh, and Susie throws Jeff out of the house again.
Larry may or may not have tipped some people for Christmas twice. I think he miscounted with the wrong person.
And when Larry decides to eat the cookies that Cheryl and her sister baked, he didn’t know they were for the nativity scene. Who makes cookie versions of the Baby Jesus? Who? Seriously, who? That doesn’t make a lot of sense. Cookies are for eating. Larry does manage to hire some actors to play the role after spotting them in front of a church, but he gets in a fight with Joseph (Kroechner) after saying something salacious about the Virgin Mary.
Hey, it knocks the hair out!
Too bad Cheryl and her family saw the whole thing and learned about the hair.
But man, much of what happened here wasn’t Larry’s fault. Other people kept trying to get him to do things he shouldn’t, and he got in a lot of trouble. That’s hardly shocking since Larry is the guy who has to suffer whether he caused trouble or not. It’s his real role in the universe.
Maybe he should just stop lying for other people. Just a thought.
