I’ve seen enough episodes of this show to know, basically, that the title of a given episode is probably a reference to something that gets Larry in trouble. And this time? Nah!
He can get in trouble without club soda or salt.
See, Larry learns that club soda and salt, when applied quickly can remove stains from fabric. Not a bad trick. He’s really impressed. He has other problems since he’s sure Cheryl’s friend Chad, an actor, is trying to seduce her. Sure, he says it with a somewhat wry edge, but Cheryl doesn’t think so.
Meanwhile, the chef for the restaurant Larry, Jeff, and Ted Danson all invested in quits, so they need to find a new one. That leads to more hijinks for the investors because Larry has really strict standards. Why Larry? Why not? I’m surprised Ted hasn’t decked him one by now. I mean, I would be sorely tested, and I’m not willingly hanging out with Larry like Ted presumably is. And yet, that’s not who Larry irritates.
No, that’s a random saleswoman played by Laura Silverman, Sarah Silverman’s sister. Sarah is not in this episode. Laura is. She’s not playing herself.
Anyway, Cheryl and Larry decide to get a belated wedding gift for another couple, and when Cheryl goes to get an expensive bottle of wine, sometime after Larry noted Chad gave Cheryl and Al Green tape that suggested she might be better with a different man, he just putters around a place setting shop and the saleswoman follows him a little too much.
Then when Larry inadvertently follows her to drop off the wine bottle, she calls the cops on him.
And when Larry, Cheryl, Chad, Jeff, and Ted go to a restaurant to see if the food is good, the woman is there again, and she sends her husband over to manhandle Larry’s throat. That causes the wine to spill on Cheryl’s dress where Chad uses the club soda and salt trick to manhandle Cheryl’s breasts.
Well, Larry didn’t cause problems with the club soda and salt this time at least. He’s mostly guilty here of being a bit rude to a saleswoman. There isn’t enough club soda and salt in the world to fix that mess.
