And so, a killer is revealed!
Yeah, now they just gotta capture the guy.
This is the point about which the killer is revealed anyway, but man, before that happens, the killer kills Glen Stubbins. I know at least one member of the Gabbing Geek crew wants Meryl Streep to be a regular starting next season, but I want Paul Rudd back so he can die again. He’s good at dying on this show. It’s better than his Irish accent. Now, there’s an Irish nurse in this episode that does a better Irish accent, and when Glen wakes up, he even proposes to her before the bad guy shows up to smother him. That nurse is pretty distraught, and that’s coming after Charles and Oliver showed up looking to see if they could wake Glen up with some beer, and maybe some corned beef.
Fun fact: “corned beef and cabbage” is not a traditional Irish dinner. Corned beef was something the Irish adopted from their Jewish neighbors when they came to America. That doesn’t stop my mom from making my dad corned beef for dinner every St. Patrick’s Day, and Dad is fully aware that they don’t eat much corned beef in Ireland.
Anyway, the trio knows a former protege of Sazz’s is possibly the killer, but the bartender from the stuntmen bar says that Glen isn’t the protege, but someone else who screwed up his first stunt. Only three people know this mystery man’s name: Sazz, Glen, and Ron Howard, the director of the movie.
OK, what follows is Charles and Oliver (sometimes with Mabel) working to get to see Ron Howard, and Oliver has one of his highly unlikely stories that suggests he and Ron Howard are great friends. Ron-Ron, as Oliver says he calls him, is filming a movie nearby, and the three manage to get in as extras when Oliver goes big at the audition, Charles gets in out of pity that his career has fallen that far, and Mabel’s frozen panic actually gets her cast. Mabel bails, and the guys argue on set after Oliver decides to improvise and Ron Howard banishes them from his set and all future sets.
So, that’s it then? There’s no hope? Wait…Ron Howard runs into Oliver at the restaurant that was in Oliver’s story…and his story was true. Ron-Ron is Oliver’s friend! They did eat hot soup! That…seems unlikely but it sure is funny! And yes, he does know who Sazz’s protege was! It was some rookie stuntman who wanted to be a writer named Rex Bailey! Or…the wimpy guy who wrote the screenplay for the movie! The one whose rewrites are so bad, that he may get fired soon! And Sazz might have written the screenplay too! Because that’s who Mabel’s spending time with when the guys text her a warning!
Well, that may go bad. It may be up to Charles, Oliver, and Ron-Ron to save young Mabel! Or not Ron-Ron. He has a movie to make.
