It occurred to me that, while writing the entry on the Foreigner, that he had been married to Silver Sable, but I had never done an entry on Silver Sable. Why wouldn’t I? She’s this odd ally of Spider-Man’s who shows up once in a while, helps out in the more international incidents, and that’s about it. You mean having a sexy, platinum blonde woman who can fight somehow didn’t get made into a movie by Sony for their Spider-Man-less Spider-Man universe? Sable is an actual good guy, not some Spider-foe that they can pretend ain’t all bad!
OK, Sony tried at one point, but that’s for later.

Silver Sable, real name Silver Sablinova, first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #265 in June of 1985. Created by writer Tom DeFalco and artist Ron Frenz, she’s the head of the Wild Pack and Silver Sable International, the corporations that keep her fictional country of Symkaria afloat economically. Symkaria is a small, fictional European country, on the border of Latveria. Yes, she’s actually on good terms with Dr. Doom. The two meet once a year for dinner. But as for Sable, she’s basically just a very well-trained woman without any superpowers.
Sable actually runs the companies with her extended family, and she learned to fight from her father, a renowned Nazi-hunter who taught his daughter how to hunt Nazis after watching Nazis kills his wife, Sable’s mother. Lousy Nazis ruin everything! At some point, she ran into Spider-Man, and from there…well, she and Spider-Man meet up and go on adventures and the like.
See, this would be about where I recount some of her more interesting adventures or something along those lines. Like, what major storylines has she been involved in or what superhero teams did she join or what series she had. Well…she had one called Silver Sable and the Wild Pack and…that’s about it as near as I can make out. Like, Sable pops up from time-to-time when there’s international mercenaries about, and that’s about all I can find. If anything, she’s kinda boring.
Her one quirk seems to be that she doesn’t so much join teams as found them. Her “Wild Pack,” created by her father, is much larger than it sounds, with smaller elite groups that come out of it, and she’s not above hiring superhumans for her various teams, like the Outlaws that had Sandman, Puma, Rocket Racer, Prowler, and Will o’ the Wisp, or the Intruders whose membership included Sandman, Paladin, and a bunch of people I’ve never heard of. Worth noting that this was during Sandman’s reformed period before someone (probably John Byrne) decided to make him a bad guy again.
And…that’s it, I think.
Man, this was disappointing.
Anyway, she at least has never been romantically linked to Spider-Man outside of the occasional issue of What if? She did appear in a number of video games, and Sony was planning a movie for her and the Black Cat, who might as well be her sister given their general appearance, but that fell through, and given Sony’s other Spider-Man-ish movie track record, that’s probably a good thing.

I need to cover characters that actually do more than shoot things and recruit teams, I think.
