If I wasn’t sure before if Kaitlin Olson was playing Cheryl’s sister Becky, I sure do know it now. She looks more like her Always Sunny character in behavior and wardrobe for some reason.
Anyway, I think this one might be Cheryl’s fault. See, Larry has this jacket that he loves, but Cheryl doesn’t, so she convinces him to give the jacket to charity, and at the end of the episode, the Davids meet a homeless man who has the Davids’ missing plane tickets. They were in the jacket pocket. Sure, Larry probably should have taken the tickets out of the jacket pocket, but he didn’t. Likewise, Cheryl just insisted that Larry give the jacket away. Ergo, she’s at least partially responsible because Larry was listening to her. Or something. All I know is Larry would have kept the jacket if he could have.
Why do they need plane tickets? Oh, they need to go to a baptism, something Larry somehow does not understand through cultural osmosis. See, Cheryl’s sister Becky is getting married to a Jewish man, and her faith is important to him, so he is converting to whatever branch of Christianity Cheryl’s family practices. Sure, Larry as a Jewish man sees Christians as being overly aggressive about conversion, but what’s he gonna do about it?
Well, he’s going to (accidentally) lose the tickets, forcing Larry and Cheryl to take a different flight, especially after they report the tickets stolen. Who steals plane tickets and nothing else? Beats me. Larry thought he knew, but that just got him chewed out by a stranger, something he should probably be used to by now.
Then again, if Cheryl had actually explained how a baptism works, maybe Larry wouldn’t have tried to save a man from drowning. See, they arrived a wee bit late, and Larry didn’t know the drowning man was Becky’s fiance, and that he wasn’t really drowning because he was supposed to go in the water like that. Oh, and Larry’s actions are seen as heroic by the fiance’s Jewish family while Cheryl’s family gets mad that Larry ruined a perfectly fine baptism, but that just leads to a break-up of yet another one of Becky’s relationships and a massive argument between her family and her ex’s family while Larry literally stands in the middle of it all.
He really should have kept that jacket. It didn’t look that bad.
