Curb Your Enthusiasm “The Doll”

Season Two, Episode Seven

This episode ends with a mob looking for Larry to the point where he jumps out a window.  I think it is safe to say he lost in this one.

Yes, Larry does bad by one or two young girls, with help from Jeff, and it may be the first time Susie turns on Larry for the crime of being Larry.  He also gets a bad rash on his penis that requires that he drink a lot of water, among other problems.

Mostly this one all comes down to how Larry can handle a little girl’s request that he give her (apparently very valuable) doll a haircut.  This happens when he goes looking for a bathroom with a working lock while attending a dinner party at an ABC executive’s house when the network agrees to take on the show Larry pitched with Julia Louis-Dreyfus.  They’re also apparently working with Jason Alexander, who took a meeting at their office instead of his.

Larry seemed interested in that information.

Anyway, the executive’s wife, who looked familiar, was mad that Larry gave the doll a haircut because her (apparently gifted) daughter didn’t know the hair wouldn’t grow back, a fact that leads Larry to be thoroughly unimpressed by the girl’s intelligence.  Can Larry fix the doll?  Well, Jeff says his own daughter has a lot of dolls, including that one, so why not swipe a head off one of Jeff’s daughter’s dolls (that Jeff believes the girl will not miss)?

Look, if I have learned anything about parents, you ask the mother, not the father, about what the kid is actually into.  That’s how it works with my brother’s kids.  He doesn’t know squat about them.

Case in point, now Larry has two mothers mad at him, and while he is able to calm the executive’s wife and even gets the short-haired doll head back for Jeff’s daughter, he does have issues when he has to go the bathroom at another public place, there’s a line in the men’s room, and Cheryl doesn’t stay on guard outside the door because the executive’s supposedly-gifted daughter comes back, gives Larry an appreciative hug, then tells everyone outside the women’s room that the bald guy was in the women’s room with something hard in his pants.

Yeah, that would make for a good reason for Larry to flee through a window.
