OK, I have a question: this show supposedly has the characters putting out their podcast episodes as they do their investigation. So…why are the different members of the cast of Oliver’s show still talking to Charles and Mabel?
Actually, knowing a little on how to put together a podcast, the podcast aspects of the show are probably the least realistic part of the show, and that’s saying something for an episode where Charles keeps going into the White Room.
Yes, the White Room. It’s a concept held by theater people, one where a certain level of nervousness kicks in, and while the actor is feeling incredibly relaxed, anything can be happening outside. Charles was a TV actor. If he screwed up, he could just do a second take. Live theater doesn’t allow for that: you have to get it right the first time. So, sometimes a panicked actor goes there.
Charles seems to be going there a lot.
And it might not even be due to the fact that, as the worst singer in Oliver’s musical cast, he has the duty of singing the patter song, a more rap-like thing that is meant to set up the plot. During his first rehearsal, he emerged from the White Room to see he was missing his pants. The second time, he at least had his pants on.
That’s something when you consider Oliver’s show is a murder mystery where the killer is one of a set of infant triplets.
Now, last time I wondered if Oliver was still involved with the podcast/investigation. Short answer: he is. He’s helping Mabel look around the theater for clues to see if Kimber indeed is the killer. She’s doing a lot of her TikTok videos there, and it turns out she has a good explanation for what made her suspicious. Granted, there’s another clue that points towards Charles’s girlfriend Joy.
Oh Joy. Such a batty woman, the sort that Andrea Martin really specializes in. She’s moving into Charles’s place now, and she has a large aquarium with enough fish inside that both Oliver and Charles think that’s a bit too many fish. Now, Oliver thinks the real cause of Charles’s trips to the White Room is actually due to his nerves over Joy’s moving in, and he thinks Charles needs to bring an end to that.
You know, if Oliver just let Charles do the omelet-making mimework while he sang, that wouldn’t be necessary. Besides, since when is Oliver a good source for romantic advice?
Eh, it may not matter. Charles went into the White Room when he went to talk to Joy and ended up proposing.
You know, if she does end up being the killer, I’d really start to question Charles’s ability to find good romance.
