OK, so here I was planning out my next Herald of Galactus when I realized there weren’t many left. I mean, I was probably going to have to do Terrax next or something. There are other Heralds with names like Red Shift and the Fallen One, but there also wasn’t a lot on those guys. But hey, Terrax at least has a history!
Then I was checking the new releases on DC Infinite and saw there was one of those Knight Terrors special for some character named Angel Breaker. Who was that?
Turns out she’s new and should make a good entry for this series.
Angel Breaker, real name unknown, first appeared in Shadow War: Alpha #1 from writer Joshua Williamson and artist Viktor Bogdanovic in May of 2022. Real name as yet unknown, Angel Breaker was a homeless girl found one day by sometimes WildC.A.T.S. member Zealot of the Coda Sisterhood. The Coda are a race of warrior women, and Zealot saw some potential in the young woman and opted to teach her how to fight. Angel eventually swiped one of Zealot’s swords and ran off. She claimed the sword talked to her, giving her her name and promising that Angel Breaker would be the greatest warrior woman on the Earth with a grand destiny, but in the meantime, she would need to train with the finest warrior women she could find.
Apparently, that was Black Canary and Lady Shiva before Angel finally found her way to Talia al-Ghul and joined the League of Shadows. She also had something of a relationship with a Gotham area anti-hero named Ghost-Maker, and that guys sounds like someone I should cover soon.
What was this Shadow War? Well, someone claiming to be Deathstroke murdered Ra’s al-Ghul, causing Talia to lead the League to war to bring Slade Wilson down, using Angel Breaker as her field leader and righthand woman. Talia would eventually surrender to the DEO for…reasons.
There aren’t a lot of resources for Angel Breaker, and the ones I found only seem interested in saying Talia surrendered but not why. My guess, with absolutely zero cause, is that Talia was the real cause of her father’s death or something along those lines. Regardless, with Ra’s dead and Talia in prison (or something), Angel Breaker is now the leader of the League of Shadows, a character DC seems intent to make their next big hero with a grand destiny, so…I dunno, maybe it’s worth knowing who she is.
I guess I gotta cover this Ghost-Maker now.
