Well, now that the three people at the center of this whole mess are on the same page, maybe it’s time to…wait, who’s the new suspect?
So, to recap: both Sting and Oscar have been cleared. Mabel says she found a lot of jewelry in Tim’s place, and Tim may have been working to bust an underground jewelry network run by someone called “Angel”. They’re even getting some TV time as Cinda Canning talks up how ridiculous their podcast is on Jimmy Fallon’s show.
But there’s always another shoe ready to drop. And this time it comes in the most unexpected of forms: Mabel’s mother.
She does not approve.
Look, this is a light show, so I don’t want to get too much into just recapping the many, many jokes I liked. What this particular episode does so well is it does let the trio of podcasters see the human cost of what they’re doing. Mabel may be quitting, and Charles and Oliver don’t want to do the show without her. Plus, it’s one thing to talk up strangers, but when one of their own is so close to what happened, it is easy to see how this all could actually hurt someone they’ve come to care about. It’s enough to make Charles and Oliver consider quitting the podcast, particularly since Oliver saw pain when his dog was poisoned, a fact that Charles didn’t seem to know, but these three barely know each other to begin with, so that’s not much of a surprise.
But there is a new suspect: the show’s sponsor, Teddy! Teddy calls Charles and Oliver over to discuss the whole “podcast brought up on the Tonight Show” thing, and it turns out that Jimmy Fallon is HUGE with the Greeks, so Teddy sees this as vindication for the Greeks back in Greece, and after recounting his grandmother’s ordeal of escaping Turkish genocide, insists on writing a new check for $50,000 from his second company.
Hold on…is it really that expensive to run a podcast? I must have been doing something wrong…
But the name on the check of Teddy’s other company…is Angel!
Uh oh!
Wait, why would Teddy sponsor a podcast that might out him as a murderer? That doesn’t make a lot of sense, unless I am supposed to believe his main contact Oliver is some kind of idiot.
Well, he did try to make a musical version of Splash!
