YouTube Selection: PBS Explains Meme Language

PBS's Storied channel explains where and how the language of a certain type of meme started.

If you’ve been on social media for more than five minutes, you’ve probably seen a meme.  Maybe you’ve even chuckled over a couple.  But memes often have a certain sort of language associated with them to set up a joke.

And who better than PBS to explain that!

OK, in all seriousness, PBS has a YouTube channel called Storied.  Storied hosts a variety of different shows that all work off language and storytelling in one form or another.  One of the most recent such shows is called Otherwords which explains the origin of various words and terms, and for this video, the word is “Snowclones,” a popular format for memes.  See below for details.
