Doctor Who “The Armageddon Factor Part 5”

The Fourth Doctor. "The Armageddon Factor," Episode Five.

Wait, there’s another Time Lord here?

And he may know the Doctor’s real name?

That’s not important right now.  The Doctor needs to save the day and get the Key of Time working before the Black Guardian does…something bad with it.  You don’t give ancient artifacts that have complete power over time and space, mostly time, to a guy who is only in it for the evil.  That’s just common sense.

As it is, the Doctor is well aware that Astra is under the Shadow’s control.  He sends Romana off ahead with Astra, staying behind to check on a few things.  See, the trans-mat zapped the group to a ship between the two warring planets, and it doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to know that the Shadow and his goon squad minions are responsible for the whole war thing.

But when the Doctor does take a look around, he sees multiple Romanas and Astras, so he’s in trouble.  He gets a little more worried when he hears K9 calling him something other than “Master”.  Plus, the Shadow captured Romana.  What can the Doctor do?

He can accept help from his old classmate Drax.

Sadly, no.

Drax, complete with a cockney accent due to time spent in an Earth prison, is another Time Lord.  He seems like a bit of a screw-up, and he refers to the Doctor as “Theta Sigma”.  Is that the Doctor’s real name?  I dunno.  Maybe it’s the Master’s real name.  That would be a hoot and a half.

Anyway, Drax was coerced by the Shadow to build the Mentalis computer running the otherwise deserted planet Zeos’s war.

But now the Doctor can have a new plan.  First, he manages to get K9 fixed because those control things are easy to remove.  By this point, the Shadow is threatening Romana with torture if the Doctor doesn’t surrender the Key to him and his boss, the Black Guardian.

What a non-surprise.

Anyway, the Doctor knows the Shadow has his TARDIS, and the only thing to do is delay for time while Drax and K9 build a shrink gun.  And that plan works up to a point.  Namely, it works until Drax blasts the Doctor with the shrink ray instead of the Mute goon following the Doctor.

Can the Doctor save the day when he’s an inch tall?

I mean, he did once when he was microscopic, so yes.
