See, this is a case where a previous serial now missing would be very helpful to have. This one is clearly a sequel to another one.
How do I know? Well, besides the whole “Yetis” thing, Victoria and Jamie recognize an older man in the base named Professor Travers, and he recognizes them after a minute, and then his scientist daughter realizes that there must be some time travel involved and…well, that’s what’s going on.
And when Jamie and Victoria talk about something called the “Great Intelligence” that had something to do with the Yetis the last time, well, it might help if I knew something more about that.
As it is, the Doctor sits this episode out. Plus, one of the military guys is a long-running occasional Doctor Who supporting character generally called the Brigadier. It looks like he was an ally but never quite a companion. So, that happened.
What else happened? Jamie went with some soldiers into the tunnels to check on their explosives only to be attacked by bulletproof Yetis, because all villains on this show seem to be bulletproof, and the Yeti’s fungus guns stops explosives from exploding. The men might be doomed as they are soon surrounded, but then a weird sound fills the air and all the Yetis just wander off.
Who else wandered off? Victoria. Because that’s a smart and safe thing to do.
Likewise, Jamie and another soldier are sent away, only to encounter what looks like a lot of foam in a tunnel that Jamie says is the Intelligence.
Where’s the Doctor to explain things when I need him to?
