In 1999 I made the local news as one of the first in line to buy tickets to The Phantom Menace. I don’t think I’ve ever been so hyped for a movie before or since. And then I watched it. Actually, I haven’t been as much of a hater of the prequels as others (more on that in Tom’s Star Wars rewatch) but after all the hype and wait it will always be billed as a disappointment.
After the cut, someone sliced together a lot of old news footage of fans before and after seeing TPM. I’m actually surprised it got so much love…but editing can do wonders.
