I like to look around YouTube to sometimes try and learn new things. Sometimes a new channel from a creator I’ve never heard of will do just that.
As such, here’s a channel called “Accented Cinema” that explains something about how Chinese horror movies work.
Should we be surprised that there are perhaps large cultural differences to how a ghost story is told in China as opposed to either the West or in Japan? There was something of a J-horror craze to hit the States at one point. But Accented Cinema notes one of those American remakes wasn’t of a Japanese film, but a Chinese one. He explains the differences, and I found it kinda cool, so let’s share.
