Well, here we are. The COVEN finale! Who will be the next Supreme? Will it be Zoe, Madison, Misty, or Queenie?
Yeah, I don’t much care.
Nothing about becoming the new Supreme worked for me as an overarching plot. Much of COVEN was filled with this self-serious attitude, where characters were either unpleasant or ineffective. American Horror Story is a campy and ridiculous show even at the best of times, and this episode opens with a Stevie Nicks music video for no other reason than because they could.
Oh, and if you thought killing off a Jessica Lange character off-camera is a bit of a cheat, congratulations, you won’t be surprised to find out she only temporarily faked her own death.
I get the impression American Horror Story only works best in spurts, so I’ll be taking a break from this show for now. Fortunately, two of my past Tuesday shows returned after a fashion. So, next week we’ll have the Black Mirror special Bandersnatch.
And then, one week later, we’ll jump back to see if True Detective course-corrected after season two.
That stuff should, at least, be less campy than anything from American Horror Story. We’ll see about maybe checking out the FREAKSHOW when that’s done.
