Hey, I remember these! It’s not exactly an update to the stagnating Spider-Man Complete Chronology that I claim to be working on, but it’s an excuse for me to post some brief Spider-Man cameos. I called this set “The Mighty Thor” edition as all cameos will come from that title, spread out over almost a quarter of a century.
Check out Spidey and Thor after the break…
The Mighty Thor 148 (January 1969) – So this cameo is kinda lame. It seems that Thor has some visitors from Asgard and he has to try to explain to them what a television is and why we mere mortals flock around it like moths to a flame. It just so happens that Spidey is currently on the screen.
The Mighty Thor 233 (March 1974) – An actual Spider-Man appearance that is story related. In a common cameo move, “we need to show that [blank] is affecting the entire planet/New York. Let’s show Spider-Man for one panel to let the readers know, ‘Hey, this is serious stuff happening here!'”
In this case, heroes all over the world are being trapped by force fields because Loki.
The Mighty Thor 271 (May 1978) –
See? What did I tell you? While Thor and Iron Man are in space doing Avenger things and saving our collective asses for the God knows how many-eth time, let’s quickly throw it back to New York for some perspective on how super important and dangerous what they are doing is.
The Mighty Thor 427 (December 1990) – It’s a Thor/Excalibur crossover. Something really bad is about to happen. We better check in and make sure Spidey’s Spider-Sense is tingling to confirm how bad it is.
The Mighty Thor 464 (July 1993) – It’s an Infinity Crusade crossover, so there are lots of Infinity things going on and some crusades and Thor fights Loki and…everyone else just kinda hangs out in the hall…waiting for Spider-Man’s Spider-Sense to go off and let them know they need to worry I guess.
