"Hello, Ladies! "Or "The First Rumors About the First Star Wars Standalone Revealed!"

I was just discussing with Ryan that despite being due out next year, we had NO info on the first Star Wars standalone movie other than it was set to premiere December 2016 and was being directed by Gareth Edwards. But today we can say we know…well we KNOW nothing, but how about some rumors?

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter:

Tatiana Maslany, the Canadian actress who stars as multiple replicants in BBC America’s hit series Orphan Black, is testing for the female lead in the Star Wars spinoff that is being directed by Gareth Edwards.

Rooney Mara, who starred in the David Fincher version of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, is also due to test this week among a handful of others, according to multiple sources.

Additionally Felicity Jones, who just received an Oscar nomination for best actress for her work in The Theory of Everything, is said to be on the want list, although there may be scheduling issues with Inferno, the Da Vinci Code sequel that Ron Howard is due to direct this spring and summer.

Looking at some strong female actresses for a big role? Sounds promising!

Disappointed to hear Felicity may let a Da Vinci movie screw up her chance at Star Wars. She better hope they don’t reboot the Garfield Spiderman universe and she loses out on the rumored Black Cat spinoff.

Since the next Girl With a Dragon Tattoo film is in limbo, maybe Rooney can take things on instead.

Total speculation? One of these women will play Bastilla in Knights of the Old Republic! Whattaya think about some SW “news” that isn’t Episode 7?
